Welcome to Handcrafted Symbolic Jewellery, the website of the Silversmith Lee Allin. A self taught designer and craftsman, he enjoys experimenting with materials and both precious and semi-precious stones and crystals. All pieces are hand crafted to a high quality, and all sterling silver pieces are hallmarked by the London Assay Office with their hallmarks and those individual to the work of Lee Allin.
Symbols are objects, pictures or other representations of ideas, concepts or abstractions. All languages are essentially made up of symbols. Words, whether spoken or written, are often a sequence of symbols that represent something.
An interest in symbols and their meanings has led to the creation of many items of jewellery, covering many religious, historical, scientific and mathematical references; and including medieval, masonic, occult, christian, pagan and ancient egyptian symbols amongst others. Many pieces cross over between sections, many with similar translations, a few with differing.
Not all of the jewellery featured upon this website are of an obvious symbolic nature. Symbolism can be also translated from the types of stones used in a piece; the colours of the stone, and the shape and forms surrounding and within each piece. There are also some non-symbolic pieces featured within the site.
